10 Performers You Must See In Concert Before You Die

By Alexandra Brown on May 25, 2015

Music makes the world go around. And what better way to experience it than live? Sure, we all have music on our phones and can listen to it in the comfort of our own homes, but there really isn’t anything like a live show.

The live experience comes in all different sorts; music festivals, with various artists performing, and concerts with openers are just some of the ways to experience live music.

All different types of music are great, but there are certain bands or performers that are better than others when it comes to performing live.

Here is a list of bands and performers to see in concert before you die.

1. Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen is a classic American favorite, and is known for bringing insane amounts of energy to the crowds of his shows. Although he or his music might not be entirely that popular among people of college age, he’s still worth seeing if you can.

2. Jay-Z

In addition to being an incredibly talented rapper for years, Jay-Z is also known for the show he puts on at his concerts. He has live bands backing him up, playing actual instruments (a deranged idea in this day and age) that perfectly pair with his rhymes.

He’s known to make a personal connection with the audience at his shows, and really plays on peoples’ emotions. His shows are not ones to miss.

3. Beyoncé

Speaking of Jay-Z, his wife, the talented and flawless Beyoncé, produces an insane, crowd pleasing show as well, and sometimes even with her entertainer husband.

Her most recent album, BEYONCÉ, released with absolutely no promotion in 2014, was an instant success. Her tour included cities all around the world, and performances with both she and her husband, rapper Jay-Z.

4. U2

It’s been three decades since the band began producing music, and they’re still not finished. They have an incredible amount of #1 singles from different years, and are still making great music to this day.

They are known to create intimacy with their shows, even in huge arenas, so their shows are definitely worth it, at least once.

5. Kanye West

If you want something unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, attend one of Kanye’s concerts. If you’re a Kanye lover, or rap lover in general, you will not be disappointed.

Everything he does in his shows, he plans specifically, and to have certain meaning. From where he’s placed on the stage, to the props he uses, to his backup dancers, to his speeches to the audience, Kanye goes all out. His shows are undoubtedly a must-see.

6. Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been around since the ’90s, and are still producing great music. They’ve been live at various music festivals, various times throughout their career, including multiple appearances at Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival in Grant Park.

If you’re a fan of theirs, you’ll definitely want to attend at least one of their live performances in your lifetime.

7. Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake can pretty much do no wrong. From his *NSYNC days to his current solo work, he is truly an amazing artist and entertainer. Every new album is something completely unlike the last, and it is only a matter of time before he releases something new.

Justin Timberlake is definitely a must-see artist.

8. Madonna

Everyone’s favorite material girl is still hot, and still performing live, which means it’s essential to catch her in action before she actually becomes too old for entertaining.

Even though she gets criticism for being “too old” to perform like she does, she’s still got it. She’s in shape, she still has her voice, and she looks amazing everywhere from her live performances to Super Bowl appearances. She is a pop solo artist must-see, for sure.

9. Lady Gaga

Another solo pop artist who can be compared to Madonna, but who brings all original work to the table, is Lady Gaga. Her incredible voice talent has the power to completely capture an audience, as well as the art that comes along with her singing.

She’s not your everyday pop star. In addition to her one-of-a-kind voice, she is truly a creative genius. Everything from her costumes, to her hair and makeup, to her props, to her set are all 100 percent original and powerful.

10. Skrillex

If you’re an electronic music fan, and you enjoy going to these types of concerts, you’re doing something wrong if you’ve never seen Skrillex live.

As a Grammy-winning artist, his live performances are a must-see experience. He offers an explosion of sound and lights that is truly a unique experience you can’t get with music of other genres.
